Masakazu Furuichi is a Professor at the Department of Mathematical Information Engineering, College of Industrial Technology of Nihon University. Dr. Furuichi received his B.L.A. in Computer Science from Hiroshima University in 1982, his M.S. in Computer Science from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1994, and his Ph.D. from Keio University in 2004. Dr. Furuichi has been working for Mitsubishi Electric Corporation from 1982 to 2008. While he has been working at the Information Technology R&D center (ITR&D) and Kamakura Works of Mitsubishi Electric, his major research topics were parallel and distributed simulation, dynamic load-balancing, parallel object oriented languages and the design and implementation of IEEE 1516 High Level Architecture RTI (RunTime Infrastructure) for Modeling and Simulation.

After he has played an important role as a senior research scientist and a chief engineer in Modeling and Simulation Business, he has moved to Nihon University to expand his Modeling and Simulation knowledge to Serious Game Design based on a Distributed Virtual Environment Technology. In 2012, he was featured in a NHK program “Do you know Serious Games? – BAKUMON-GAKUMON”, and the program was to increase the degree of recognition on Serious Games in Japan. In order to boost more of this recognition, he has been working for Serious Game Jams and Serious and Applied Game Summit with Prof. Yoshihiro Kishimoto of Tokyo University of Technology. His serious games that known at exhibition and TV programs are Line Ho!ckey, MU3-Table, NARIAGARE, Sengoku-FUSE etc
